Summer Shoes: Sperry/Vans/Converse

Howdy all. I live in AZ where there's really no large body of water nearby.

I came home with boat shoes last weekend my wife felt I looked a little too "east coast."

I like the Sperrys, but it looks like I might be overruled here. She thinks it makes me look older than I am (36) and encouraged me to wear my chucks or a pair of slip on Vans.

Traditional logic says to wear what I want, but obviously I want her to enjoy how I look as well.

Thoughts and feedback on Vans/Chucks as summer shoes on the weekend? I'm a little bummed because Sperrys seem to go with everything short wise.

In that price range try Seavees or PF Flyers if you are looking for a Vans or Converse alternative. For me both of those brands are much more comfortable to wear than Vans or Converse.
