I am a first-year university student in Europe (i.e. 2nd year college student) and I would be interested in looking for a summer intern either in a consulting firm or some kind of bank. I dont have that much academic background to be able to draft complex stuff, etc. and of course I would be looking at more smaller and unknown companies since no chance of Goldman Sachs or McKinsey at this stage.

Anyone have any names to suggest who like young, hard workers? Also I hope that not having American citizenship is a setback; I guess you can work under a J-1 visa?

Mostly interested in Upper-east, Miami, Atlanta, California and Chicago.

I can't speak for everywhere, but all of the students in my program without US work authorization are having an insanely hard time finding companies that will take them on as interns, let alone full time.

I know this is the case at MIT, too.

^agree, and cross Miami off your list. Not many consulting and finance internships here
