In winter, whenever I want to wear a shoe that looks smart, is comfortable, a little on the dressy side yet not stiff at all, I reach for Chelseas or Chukkas.

In summer, I reach for - what?

I know there are people who wear unlined Chukkas in summer (think Daniel Craig lacing his shoes before the Casino Royale), but I think it's just too hot and not practical. Some people would probably suggest either driving mocs or boat shoes, but I hate both.

Do you have a picture of these sneakers? And I see no significant difference between driving mocs and loafers.

If summer loafers are out of the question, did you spot this 'heads up' I posted recently?

it seems that you like boots though. your not really going to be able to wear boots in the summer. what is it that you like about boots? if you want something a bit more chunky you can get a pair of reverse welted lace-ups.
