Re: MTM

I have a suit from their Custom Made program (that used to be called Design Your Own or something). You can select fabric, style and change measurements. I made changes to the jacket waist, jacket length, sleeve length and pant waist. Also added cuffs and side adjusters for the pants.

The cost was very reasonable in comparison to what tailoring of an RTW suit would add up to. This program also allowed me to add jacket length.

I'm pretty happy about the result. Please excuse the socks.

Looks great. What's the fabric choice here?

Welp, my SuSu MTM adventures were not a success. Trousers an absolute mess and the jacket was like 2 sizes too big. They did, however, nail the shoulder and sleeve pitch. That's more than can be said for my other MTM suits. They offered to remake both, so at least the only thing wasted has been my time.

I'm sorry you had a poor experience. I had a phenomenal experience my first time around. I'm going to get my second one soon and can't be more eager for it. The specialist who helped me was in SF and had made over 100 MTM suits during his time there, I think. You really do have to go find an experienced person to measure and fit you. I have the same exact styling you like on my suit and we made significant adjustments to the base.

@cakv The Helsinki store is very new so my fitting was with an MTM specialist from the Netherlands. His suit was quite fashiony, so in retrospect it's not surprising he screwed it up. The second time around the person breezily informed me she had made 3 suits so far and none had to be remade. Needless to say, my expectations are pretty low.

I think a lot of it has to do with body type. When one falls outside the normal range, that's when tailoring gets complicated. All my MTM commissions have been pretty meh; even the one fitted by a master tailor.

This look very nice! I would be eager to try them, the Lazio fits me very nice, I don't need any alteration in the jacket but the trousers, there is where the modifications are needed. Sadly, in Mexico, we don't have this program available yet.

I think it was mentioned in the old affiliate Suitsupply thread that it could be done online (by contacting customer service).

@Michael81 Are you just super buff and have large shoulders, chest, and narrow waist?

I have a pretty average build for 6'1", probably 20% BF but carry most of it in my lower back and stomach with broad shoulders and chest.

I'm just a bit of a beanpole. 6'2 76 kgs. Runner's physique, I guess. But apparently it's something tailors struggle with.

Can I ask what model this is and goe much it ran you? You look like you have simliar fit issues as me, the jacket is generally a bit shorter than I'd like, and sleeves a bit too short as well.

It's the Lazio. Price was around $ 540. For reference, an RTW Lazio in the same fabric is around $ 400 (converted from local currency).
