I was about to post about that. The worst ad I've seen in a while.
They know that negative publicity is good. I find it tasteless. Regardless what each person's view is on Covid etc people are dying left and right and they tell you orgies are the new normal :D

Anyways, I was ready to commission 3 MTM trousers with them but I changed my mind now. I will try Blugiallo or Pini Parma or even a Bespoke one here in Stockholm.

It's definitely tactless, even for them. People are dying and suffering everywhere, and here SuitSupply has people sticking their tongues in each other's mouths. They've gotten away with provocative ads in the past, but I expect there may be furious backlash with this one. ?‍♂️

I think they're saying that this is the future? Not now?

This seems like one of the better sexual ad campaigns, both from them and when compared to the fashion industry's previous uses of sexual imagery. In the past, companies such as Tom Ford, Susu, and CK have used sex imagery in a way that ... doesn't look great. Images can be criticized as being too much of the male gaze, nonconsensual sex (sometimes bordering on ****), and even pedophilia (especially with '90s era Calvin Klein).

But this one seems consensual and even diverse. I feel like a lot was put into the very specific details -- the woman putting her tongue forward more than the man, and the gay men in the bottom corner (maybe also a lesbian couple in the upper corner).

I was actually curious to see how many people would be offended by the LGBTQ+ imagery, but I haven't seen anything about it so far.

Rachel Tashjian at GQ wrote a tweet a few weeks back about how it's hard to use sexual imagery in this metoo moment, and the fashion industry often uses sex to sell clothes. So, she said, fashion photographers are moving away from sex and more towards "weird" (e.g. Balenciaga). This Susu campaign seems like one of the healthier ways to show sex in a campaign.

This is not safe for work material, nor material that I would want anywhere near the kids I don’t have. Sex is nice and healthy but the only thing I see is tongues like in that “Date Movie”.

inclusivity is fine as I am inclusive myself, but this is not the new normal I want to be a part of. Can you imagine the smell by the way? ?

I agree this isn't something I would want children to see. But I assume that children are not getting this email or checking Suitsupply's website. I think I would have more of a problem with it if it was plastered on billboards.

I personally don't have a problem with sexual imagery as long as it's healthy. I do generally find Suitsupply's ads to be corny -- the whole "men in suits **********" thing seems really corny and cliche -- but corniness is different from being morally offensive. As far sexual imagery in fashion goes, this seems like one of the better executions.

I suppose it depends on the perspective, someone else said they saw this in a massive billboard.

I don’t know for me it gives out a porno vibe and I think the timing is pretty bad. And working there I saw a lot of examples of misogynistic behavior from the male staff. I expected better based on their campaigns. Anyways!

I know there history of provocative ads, and it’s no big deal to me. This one however feels a bit cringey, because the participants appear to be playing a role. Maybe that’s the intent? I’ll just ignore it.

I live in The Netherlands and I saw these posters today on billboards on the street

While I’m not a fan of the ad, it definitely got my attention...

Received that in today’s newsletter... finally understood what other people meant when they described the previous NSFW tadteless ads from susu. I honestly was pretty surprised by it, and kind of damaged the image I had from them. In the past years when you would mention suit supply people acknowledged a good brand with good products. I don’t really wanna be associated with those ads .. imagine the reactions from people who congratulate you on fit, you mention it’s susu, and they say ’oh that brand that advertises for horny 20 year olds’.
definitely dont have the same reading as @dieworkwear ...
this is not a roger ebert analysis we are looking for :D
