It could be a combination of your erect posture and a fuller/more muscular chest. I have this issue, which requires me to size up in jacket size in order to have the lapels lay correctly. This, however, results in excess fabric in the shoulder blades since I need extra fabric to cover my chest but do not need it for my back. I end up buying suits to fit my chest and having the tailor take them in at the back seam to try and get a good fit. Despos initially diagnosed the issue for me in a prior thread. From your pictures, could be what you are dealing with.

I am looking to purchase a suit from SS in a non-staple fun pattern. Can anyone give me a rundown on the different cuts in their experience? I never trust corporate descriptions of items :nodding:

Specifically, if anyone could comment on armhole height, buttoning point, and shoulder padding in the models on the site (sienna, napoli, seville, etc.) I would appreciate it. Comaprisons to other brands would also be helpful! Thanks in advance

I just got my Napoli suit (in a staple not-fun pattern). [IMG] Also spent a good 30 minutes on the phone grilling their rep on the difference between different cuts. The Napoli I have has a similar cut with Brooks Brothers Fitzgerald - slim, but not too slim. I fit well in a 39R Fitz (minimal alteration) - 38R was too tight and 40R too baggy. This is also the case with the Napoli.

Based on my "phone interview", Sienna and Napoli has a similar cut. The only difference is the fabric, hand-finishing, and the shoulder. The shoulder on Napoli is lightly padded, but Sienna (according to her) is even more lightly padded.

If you are looking for fun patterns, there are not too many in Sienna, so that's one crossed out for you. Most of the playful colors are in the Washington/Napoli. Now we need someone for cross comparison between Washington and Napoli.

Based on my suit, the Napoli fabric is softer and looks "more expensive" than BB 1818 line. I like these guys, shipping is fast and customer service is very responsive. Remains to be seen how well they process returns.

Thanks for the fit recommendation. Fire away if you have more questions.

I have wide, hanger shoulders but thinner chest (built more like Cross Country runner). If I buy a bigger size for my shoulders often I find the chest is too roomy. If I size down the chest works if I slouch a bit, however when I put my shoulders back the lapels bow because the shoulders pull back the fabric. So I'm tough OTR for sort of the opposite reason as WaterlooMike. I've found SS to be a decent mix between the too. If ultimately I have a little bowing, which very few even notice, then so be it.

These questions were asked about a dozen pages back and at the time I don't think anyone really gave a full answer. You'll probably have to piecemeal the info. I think there is also a thread called Brooks Brothers vs Suit Supply, or something similar, that makes a few comparisons. Or, just order a suit with their free shipping and see how it fits. (I say that if they're going to offer it, might as well use it. Next best thing to trying on in a store)

FWIW, I have 2 Napolis....high armholes, button point a couple inches above my belly button (more on the trendy side), I'd call it lite-to-medium padding, sort of a roped shoulder.

Yea I agree Cousins..I tried on the Washington.. had to go two sizes up.. really high armholes. pronounced shoulders but a little bit of higher buttoning stance than the Napoli.. the Sienna has the hardest fit for me.. very little to no shoulder padding and very high armholes.. I have a barrel chest and wide shoulders with a slimmer waist for my height.. 6"8...(think a Lebron James physique) so the Napoli is perfect in my normal size. By the way Cousins, like your tumblr.. awesome collection of pictures

I put my order into SS on Monday. Got confirmation that my order was shipped on Tuesday, and got a call this morning that my order is in Vancouver and will be delivered by either today or tomorrow!

    Talk about fast shipping :slayer:

I'm VERY excited to get these suits in, I just really, really, really hope they fit well so I don't have to send them back!

    Keep you posted...

    Cheers,

    Jay

Just got the 38S (usual size) S130 Sienna Navy Suit. OTR Fit. These aren't greatest photos, but I couldn't find any good spots in my house.

Any comments/criticisms/things I need to get tailored?

Sleeves way too short, pants too baggy (you should wear them higher BTW, they are not jeans) and too long, jacket too roomy under the waist and a bit too short. I would return this suit, it's not fitting very well. You need another size where you are able to get away with only minor alterations, possibly 38R. Check the measurements of their sizes in comparison to this 38S with their customer service before ordering a new one or try to use their brick&mortar store.
