FYI, I just purchased a suit from one of the Manhattan locations hoping to find a Roma fit and they had none in the entire store. Anecdotal. but I was told by the rep that they seem to be reducing stock of Roma so the "push" you are referencing might be ebbing.

I was disappointed because I can be a little hard to fit off the rack in the slimmer cuts that are increasingly popular but ended up getting a Havana sized 44 Short. Which felt odd given that I'm a bit under 6'2 with a long torso and weigh about 190. But if it fits it fits.

I also bought a pair of their "slim" pants and I consider them more "average" than slim. But I think branding as slim is popular these days.
I believe you regarding the Roma. But, I think SS will stick with relaxed fits judging by their employees' looks from Spring '25 at the latest Pitti.

The suits look over-sized more than relaxed fit to me (To be clear I don't know anything). But let's hope! I would love for a less narrow cut to be widely available.

Fall '24 fabrics have started to appear in the SS Custom portal. Just a few fabrics for now.

Are they all wearing suitsupply?
I was wondering what the pants of the guy on the left are? Is it a custom high waist option from suit supply?

Yes, they’re all wearing SS. You can order your pants with a higher waistband. I personally order my custom pants with a 4.5 cm waistband. I’ll post a picture tomorrow.

Inches, not cm?!

Have any of you commissioned a custom made summer hopsack jacket from SuitSupply? I want to get a navy blazer which I can wear while travelling internationally and for combining with jeans or high twist trousers. I’m living in a very hot and humid climate (Middle East), so I’m looking for an open weave jacket that is light and wrinkle resistant.

I’m looking to either order one from SuitSupply, or otherwise buy this jacket from Cavour: https://cavour.co/en/product/9516/mod-2-hopsack-jacket

Within SuitSupply I can’t really figure out which fabric would be similar to the one of Cavour. I have found a 250gr/m navy pure wool traveller from Zegna (coded 3585) which does look nice.

I already have some suits from SuitSupply so I’ve nailed down the measurements and the jackets are fitting me nicely. From Cavour I can order a length size, which fits good in most aspects, my only concern is that the length is 2cm too long for my liking. For the rest I would only need to adjust the sleeves slightly and nip the waist.

In the end if I want to order the SuitSupply jacket with some options (unlined, unconstructed) due to my hot climate area, it runs nearly to 800 euro, which I find quite steep to be honest. They also have a fabric from Rogna called the 4-Ply traveller, but my concern is that with a weight of 400gr/m it’s not very suited for this hot area. Price is more attractive though, 644 euro. So coming close to the Cavour sales price to which I should add some alteration costs. But with Cavour I’m not sure whether the 2cm additional length would be too much, or that’s barely noticeable?

Any opinions and guidance would be sincerely appreciated!

Quality wise Cavour is on a whole another level. But quality doesn't matter if the fit is off.
So if you feel that extra 2 cm of length throw off proportions for you, then leave it and go with Suitsupply

Thanks. Perhaps I’m just exaggerating the effect of 2cm on the proportions. I think if I’ll shorten it by 1-1.5cm you hardly see the difference and it shouldn’t lower the pockets too much visually, and then it’ll be almost the exact same measurements as with my custom made SuSu. So from that perspective the Cavour jacket is a bargain.

I would not shorten a jacket.
Also, I think it doesn't matter if you over exaggerate it or not - you yourself feel something is off and so you'd never want to wear it

How about their tropical wools? Or wool/silk/linen?

Are you going by measurements with Cavour or have you tried their jackets on? If you know SS fits you well, I wouldn't experiment.

In what ways?

In what ways?
In all ways.
Cavour uses a more substantial canvas than my full canvas jackets from Suitsupply.
And their baseline jackets have a ton of handwork.
Plus their cut is more balanced - Suitsupply changes lapel width from jacket to jacket substantially and everything is within the same cut.
And my personal favorite - high armholes

Interesting. I consider those preferences, not features of quality. Handwork maybe, but depends on what kind.

These are not preferences, these are signs of higher quality:
- handwork means a lot more time spent on a garment meticulously crafting it and leaving no corners cut. I have plenty of Suitsupply items with a leftover thread sticking out from every seam and some places even have inverted AMF stitching 🤦‍♂ QC missed it
- higher arm holes and more proportionate lapels mean that the company spent more time perfecting their pattern and they target a specific body type instead of trying to fit one garment on a lot more men, giving it a low arm holes. No matter the quality of materials, if it doesn't fit you, it'll look horrible. My Cavour jackets fit me much better than even my MTM Suitsupply jackets. And my Cavour Sartoria fit me like a bespoke jacket
