So, I am trying on some shirts because I want to start building my wardrobe. I recently ordered a slim fit and an extra slim fit dress shirt in size 38. Size 39 is way too big anyways. I am kinda an athletic guy so my shoulders are a bit broader than my waist.

I tried on both, and the extra slim fit fits nearly perfect. The normal slim fit is too baggy, there is extra fabric around the chest and waist.

The extra slim fit doesn't have the extra fabric underneath the armpits but it is stretching tight in the back when I for instance want to grab something with both hands above my shoulder height. The sleeve length is a little too large, and the waist needs to be taken in slightly but this can be fixed easily. Here are some pictures

My question is, do you guys think it is too tight around the chest/armpits? Does it fit me well on the shoulder area? How much range of motion should you have? The shirt only feels tight when grabbing something that's high or in front of me when I have to stretch both of my whole arms.

And do you guys know how SuSu compares to cheaper brands sunds as Olymp or Charles Thyrwitt?

If the tighter one is already too tight when doing certain movements, then it is too tight. You can’t loosen a shirt that’s too tight.

Go with the slightly looser one and have an alterations tailor make minor modifications to it. Back darts will eliminate the bagginess in your chest and waist.

The extra slim fit looks too tight on you, and this is consistent with the movement restriction that you feel when you reach up with both arms. It may look okay if you're standing still but all kinds of unsightly pulling will develop with movement. See how in the first picture the front of the shirt is pulling at the buttons with minimal movement of your torso?
