Suits Sucked in the 1990s

Yikes. Was looking through the cover archives. If you think the current editors suck, they sucked even more in the 90s. They advocated for oversized jackets. The subtitles are hysterical:
"Killer Style: Clothes You Can Refuse" "How to Look Very GQ" "All About Suits: the Cut, the Care, the Details" "Look Like a Page Out of GQ"
Old timers: did people really aspire to own suits that fit like this? http://www.gq.com/magazine/toc/20070...folio-50-years

Tiger's suit here is better than the jacket he wore for his 'admission' press conference.

30 Rock, Thursday nights on NBC.

The nice thing about the 90s was that it was still easy to find forward-pleated trousers with a decent rise, though they were usually too baggy. Jacket were terrible, with a low gorge, low button stance, and jackets never had side vents. However, there were some great suits made by Polo Ralph Lauren (still in America) at the time.

Wonder how the bespoke commissions of today will age ...

Today's tightest suits and short jackets are going to be equally laughable in 20 years. Best bet is to avoid the extremes and do whatever looks best on your body.

Extremely baggy suits and extremely tight suits rarely look good on anyone.

That's hilarious, "The Coming of Tiger Woods"

Shrunken suits with tapered pants, yes. (See: here) Fitted suits, no.

I think they should last a while but will eventually become dated. That is what fashion is all about isn't it?

I don't know how to link to posts but I brought up this very subject in a post about a week ago that was roundly ignored.

Remember those Michael Jordan post game press conferences? You could land a plane on his shoulders and yet everyone loved that style.

Agree at Woods' 'admission' conference he looked a right clip. What was up with the no tie and crooked collar?

And Baldwin? I know people often gain weight as they age but usually around the gut. He's storing all his in his face.

I never thought Bradley Cooper looked like Ralph Fiennes, but in that cover photo the first person I thought of was Cooper.
