Oh I don't know about that- judging from the fit I think more people would want to wear that than the boxy Hickey line.

I bought mine at the Barney's Warehouse sale for about $400. The website indicates a retail of $1200-1400, but who pays that? I'm sure you can find them at the Hickey Freeman store in NYC, Barney's, and of course, at the Hickey website.

I'm a hair taller than 5'9" (I know most guys exaggerate their height, but I just got measured for a physical), weigh about 150, and the suit is a 38. I wouldn't recommend buying these particular suits without trying them on first though--they're cut very slim.

Hehe, thanks!

Hickey's not all bad though--I have a HF suit (Madison cut) and my girlfriend thinks it looks better than the Hickey. You just have to size down so it doesn't look like a potato sack

I think it looks great, the shortness and slimness of the jacket accentuates your shoulders, I like the collar and two different shades of white (pocket square, shirt), though I'd change the tie to something similarly pale/subdued.

Great pic.

Are pocket squares really unacceptable for interviews? Even white linen TV folds? Would cordovan shoes with a navy suit be acceptable or are black the only acceptable shoes for interviews. Btw, I'm speaking of conservative banking/management consulting/law interviews.

Thanks! I'm so narrow that anything that gives me visual width is a plus. Gotta take a better pic though--the shirt is actually light blue!

As for the tie--well, I'll just add your vote to the I-hate-your-Zegna-tie crowd

I don't know, but I'm not taking any chances. White shirt, no PS, black shoes.

In other words, as boring as possible.

I think this is a wise approach. I'd do the same if I were interviewing.

I'd say absolutely no pocket fold or cordovan shoes. I assume you are an entry level candidate, and at that point dressing like the partners could appear presumptuous and look tacky. You want to appear serious, hard-working, intelligent, and humble. Loud clothing can distract from that image.

I'm currently a student, and I'm a nervous wreck about finding employment. I have a few interviews ahead (one with a management consulting firm) and I'm concerned now that the suit that I got from Hickey may not be conservative enough. It's pretty damn short, slim fitting, with narrow pants.

I thought the suit looked better on me than a Brooks Brothers suit, but now wondering if I should take it back and get a Brooks Brothers sack. I don't want my suit to the reason I have to move back in with my parents.

So, what say ye? Appropriate for interviews? Yay or nay?

(BTW, pocket square will go away for interviews, and shoes will be black).

I'll add that you're standing out in a good way, you look sharp.

By comparison to most people looking for a first job, this alone sets you apart big time, in my experience older professionals are very excited to see someone dress the part well, as well as being well spoken, polite and well qualified.

You'll stand out above most who get out of college expecting a job to be handed to them, showing up for the interview after possibly not showing or shaving and in some suit that doesnt fit worth a damn.

Alot of 'business' is image and showing that you provide the company a very good image on a small scale is a huge plus.

Gorgeous suit. You look better than a lot of the vets on the board.

I think the fit is tremendous. Really smart purchase: very nice suit with an excellent fit at just the right price for your age and (only guessing!) price-bracket.

Actually, I don't think the fit looks too 'modern'. (Though I agree the jacket's just fractionally short.) If anything it reminds me of those slim suit fits Fred Astaire used to sport in the late 1930s...

Hickey is quite overpriced at retail. Not sure how cheap you can get it on sale these days though.

Looks good. I interview alot of people and I would be impressed with your look as long as you show up with black shoes.

Though I wear brwon shoes most of the time, I find it disrespectful when a canidates shoes up with them on. (weird eh?)
