suit to wear at a wedding

I have been invited to a wedding and the Navy Blue suit i intended to wear will not be ready in time. That only leaves me with a black suit. I know this is not great, however, if i do go with it, what would be a good shirt/tie combination?

It is a relatively modern Hugo Boss suit, bought before i knew better!
all advice would be greatly appreciated.

You are not going to a funeral so forget any ideas of wearing a black suit. Unless you are a regular at funerals or an undertaker, burn it both for being a Boss and its colour.

Suggest you buy another RTW to replace this rag after the fire.

Actually black suit is great for weddings...
Anyway you can wear Blue/Black and grey (I don't like grey for weddings).
No patterns.
If you wear the black suit, you could wear a white shirt with a grey tie and a white pocket square.

Nah, I'd stick to Navy to be honest. Or maybe I just don't like Grey suits.
