Suit to a wedding

Hi,

I have just been sent an invitation to attend a wedding at a hotel in Bali in the early Spring. Unfortunately, the invitation makes no suggestions as to the dress code.. Before I make any major mistakes, are there any norms for weddings in this type of setting, or can it be presumed that a normal navy or gray suit would suffice?

Thanks!

Isn't Bali warm? I'd go with a Navy cotton suit, white or pale blue shirt. Solid tie. Pocket square. Then depending on how formal people are getting you may hold the tie.

That's if you have a cotton suit. Otherwise I dont see why wearing the Gray or Navy will be a "major mistake". Anyway since they didn't care to offer a dress code on the invitation, they likely don't care too much. So wear what's approrpiate for a wedding at a real warm location and be done with it.

Navy or gray, depending on the shade, may be oppressively warm. I will be attending a wedding in Greece this summer. I expect that I will be wearing my lightweight, light gray suit.

Here's an interesting study on the relationship between garment color and temperature.

Is it going to be a beach wedding? How about a light colored linen suit?

Note, that study uses internal temperature measurements and non-Western clothing of questionable fabric. It has been corroborated using cotton Western clothing:
Two other studies have found that skin temperature is higher in black (they did not measure internal temperature):
Regardless, fabric probably matters much more than colour.
