I recently acquired a beautiful ancient (black label) Canali suit and while it fits me great around the chest, shoulders and neck I have one issue with it, it's a box, it has extremely little waist suppression giving it a very box like appearance after asking my tailor to add shape to the waist he said he can't because it would ruin the drape in the front and after he pinned up the side seams to try and create shape sure enough the front became creased and lost any and all drape.
Anybody else had this experience or have any suggestion on what I could suggest to my tailor? Adding darts is my only idea. Or should i just accept it and live my boxy but wonderfully draping jacket?

How do you prefer trousers to be finished?

  • Plain hem

  • Cuffed (1.5 inches or less)

  • Cuffed (more than 1.5 inches)

  • No preference, as long as the proportions work
