Hello all,

I've been keeping my eyes open for suits to be interested in the last few months. However, I am having an issue with buying ready-made suits: traditionally, the waist is 6 inches smaller than the chest in these OTR suits. However, my waist is 8-9 inches smaller--My chest is 38" and my waist is 29-30". This has led me to be very hesitant about buying any suits that may be improperly sized.

I'm sure that I am not the only one that has ran into this issue. However, I did not see any questions about it posted on the board up until now--whether due to improper searching or just missing the train on common sense.

What are my best next steps for buying a correctly sized suit? Is my best bet buying a size 38 suit and getting the excess 2 inches taken out of the pants waist, or are there better options?

Thanks.

You are probably a 36 in a suit and the drop will be fine. You need to go out and try on some suits though. Different brands and models will fit you differently.

If you have a 38" chest then go for size 38 and if you are slim go for drop 7 or more. RLBL, Isaia etc. If the suit is well made the extra fabric in waist is not a huge problem compared to the shoulders. If shoulders are too large this is really horrible.
