The rule is EU-10=US for suits; for pants the rule is EU-16=US.

A 26 seems impossible. Do you have link? It is likely a keying error.

26 is a typical size for suits in Germany and I've been looking for a translation chart without success...

The regular size in Germany is 54, small sizes are 54/2 = 26, long sizes are 54 *2 = 108. (no guarantee)

54 is 44 in american size, so 26 should be an american 44small
