I want to shorten my jacket because it is to long. I am concerned that if do this it will alter the look of the jacket. What can be done?

it's supposedly a tricky, if nigh-impossible, operation. the more you want to shorten, the harder it becomes. you can throw off the button and pocket stances if you shorten too much.

in the same vein, how hard is it to make a 44 suit into a 41-42? also nigh impossible?

do the shoulders/armholes fit properly? if yes, you might be able to do it. if not, hmmmmm.

best to buy things that fit pretty well, shoulder wise and lenght wise, from the get go. not always possible, but those are the two that i go for, and hope for everything else.

shoulders are fine and the length is fine. just a little roomy on the chest. i'll probably take the suit to a reputable tailor in CT/NYC then.
