Wanted to solicit opinions before posting on my site-- I have a small law firm, a joint venture with 4 other attorneys in Detroit. Largely blue collar clients-- I want to appear solid, without being stodgy... any thoughts?

Sorry, couldn't resist.

I'd stay clear of the pink gingham shirt, since blue collar guys might find that a bit too foppish. Otherwise looks solid. The lighter gray keeps you from looking too uptight I think.

Nice looking suit. Swap out the gingham for another shirt. White, blue, blue with subtle stripe would work fine.

Use a royal red tie so that it looks like you graduated from Harvard and have more authority

Think about doing away with the pocket square. No 3 piece suits. Simpler shirts. Maybe get a haircut... at least to clean it up around the ears.

Dont know if its readily apparent from the pic, but the suit is a Fox flannel.

Why have you given us a URL linking to a fine art website when you claim to be a lawyer?

Ditch the waistcoat - it looks costume even here let alone to the type of client you deal with. Get rid of the 'throat' piece on the left lapel: It does not belong on a suit unless tweeds for your estate - again hardly likely to appeal to your favoured lower orders.

Then try smiling - it might break the feeling of smug affectation which this photograph has given me thus far - you know that you earn a comfortable living out of them, don't ram it down their throats.

If it were up to me I would have you wear a solid light blue shirt. Delete the vest and pocket square. I would go for a slightly softer focus so that there is a bit less detail. It is about image not stark reality.
