Hi All -

Newbie here. I recently took a gamble and ordered a nice Attolini suit over the internet. I just got the suit today and took some pics. Wanted to get feedback from all of you on whether you think this suit is suitable to be tailored.
I feel like the shoulders fit ok, but the chest/lat area is super roomy. I feel like I look super bloated/fat, so I wanted to check with the experts here on whether this is an acceptable fit for RTW (and whether a good tailor can work with it).

Keen to hear your thoughts! I very much appreciate the feedback.

I think you should be OK with tailoring it if you've got a good alterations tailor. I'll have similar issues where I need the waist taken in so it will look a little big at first but it fits well in shoulders and clean in the chest.

For your own reference, try pinching about an inch of fabric on the side seam on one side and see if that gives you the shape you need. If you're grabbing like 3 or 4 inches on one side then yes it's way too big but if you like the look with around an inch (can be a little more) on each side then it should be a good candidate to take to the tailor.

Ahh thank you for the feedback. Much appreciated. I suppose I should’ve waited for a reply here. I just sent back the suit today and plan to go a size down. Do you think going a size down is going to be too small? Honestly the suit was pretty roomy. I feel like I’m shrinking with age haha.

Sizing down is dependent on a few things: 1) Will the shoulders/arms still work? and 2) WiIl the trouser still work?

It doesn't look like your have a ton of shoulder room to size down but you never know how they built the patterns for this jacket so it could perhaps be fine but I'm a little worried based on photos alone (again, I could be wrong!). I have muscular legs so pants are a mess regardless but I don't know your fit issues.

Yeah, this one looks better! I also saw your post on MFA--if i knew your isaia size (which is also my size haha) before I would have said that yes the 52 would be right in the Attolini.
