Suit fit critique sought

On impulse I bought my first "trendy" suit - thin lapels, skinny trousers, pseudo Paul Smith liner. I'd like to hear how you all think it looks. I see the pulling in the jacket with it buttoned - how much of a faux pas is this? Can anything be done to alleviate it? Since this is more of a "party suit" I doubt it will be buttoned much anyway. Be critical (especially of the iphone 4 camera

), I can take it:

Also, I don't actually wear my tie knots that big, I just tied it loose for the photo shoot.

I think the jacket looks fine. The trousers seem a bit long as the material appears to gather and bunch in places. Suggest trying a very slight or no break at all for the skinny pant as you'll probably get a cleaner look.

Thanks, I'll have them taken up another inch or so - it's tough to get an appropriate length to wear with cowboy boots and dress shoes.

Steam it and then post pics.

It looks rumpled.

We can see the jacket's collar is too big - at your left - on the two last pictures. Look at the empty space between shirt and jacket.

Looks good, length good, rest of fit good.

Is that the shortest single vent on a jacket I have seen? Or is it a non vented jacket with a crumple / wrinkle at the back?

Thanks, and yes that's a single vent. Suit is made by Paul Betenly for Rubenstein's New Orleans - reviews on Betenly suits are few and far between, but I went for it. It's at the tailor shop now getting pants brought up a tad, and cleaned. When it comes back I'll edit the pictures with some from an actual camera (or I'll go outside).

Cool, what was the $$ damage? I will be going to New Orleans this summer.

Looks good!
But, I'm not big fan of high button stance and little bit narrow lapel. But it's personal taste.

On sale from $500 to $400 - the "impulse" was because the sale was ending that day, and after losing an ebay auction for a RLBL Anthony I was tired of looking for good bargains online. Rubenstein's and George Bass are the "it" places to go in New Orleans. Each has some pretty extensive seasonal sales.

This is quite a departure from the rest of my wardrobe, to be sure. But it's nice to mix it up a little.

$400 is a good price for a suit, particularly one if it is reasonably well made.

I will find them. I do not remember there being any clothing places in French Quarter, but there was that mall not far from the convention centre (nr Hilton) along the river. Been to New Orleans a couple of times, one of my favourite places in the world. I would consider living there but the weather is way too humid.

I have spent many hard earned dollars at Rubes over the years.

They always have nice stuff and occasionally they feel like giving stuff away.

Last few suits I've bought were online. I'd then have them altered in town. I've never been 100% happy. Today, after returning another online suit, I walked into a local mens store and said "I want a suit." Apparently they have a sale that ends tomorrow (you could see "Sale" signs coming down), and I walked in at the perfect time. Got something by Paul Betenly. I too couldnt find many reviews. That said, I've never tried on something that fit so well off the rack. Also, come to find out, HG Thrash's (that's the store in Lubbock) tailor is supposed to be great (another SF'er ref'd me there when I was considering alterations, but I've never used his services). Anyway, if he is as good as the staff made him out to be, and is the best in Lubbock (as the SF'er mentioned), then I'll be damn happy. Lubbock has jack in terms of ... refinement.

Anyway, I'm psyched to see the suit in a week or so!

The photograph of the vehicle is better than that of the garment so burn the latter.
