Hi all. I just recently purchased a slim fit navy suit for job interviews from Black Lapel in NYC. Would appreciate your comments and (if possible), how much I might add to the measurements with a tailor.
Some background: I am very difficult to fit OTR due to my height and slimness so went MTM. I was measured in-store at the B&M location and the stylists made several adjustments, including shoulder droop, sloping+forward shoulders. BL tends to run short on their jackets, so I called and we settled on a 1/2" increase to my jacket length measurement.
Here are some pictures:
Pants:
Suit Buttoned (More natural stance)
(Suit Buttoned - Less natural stance)
Suit Unbuttoned:
Things I am noticing about fit:
Jacket
- Some minor shoulder pitch issues (I was relatively happy with this overall)
- Horizontal creases in the upper back. Maybe too much tension across the shoulders, which needs to be let out
- There is too much waist suppression, and some pinching at the buttoning point.
- Length is still shorter than I prefer (looks okay depending on how I stand)
Pants
- Baggy in the seat and thigh. Looks somewhat "diaper-y", and does not dovetail well with the aggressive slimness of the jacket
- Pants are likely too tapered and break inoptimally over the shoes (I would prefer a quarter-break with a wide enough leg opening to fit over the tongue and heel.
