Hello everyone

Was after some basic advice on the fit of a new Hugo Boss suit. I like the fabric and the peak lapels but the confused about the fit.

It seems ok size wise (I'll get the jacket tailored as its a bit too roomy), but the jacket appears just too "figure 8" shaped. Seemingly narrowing too strongly in the middle and flaring out towards the bottom. Is this the saville row cut taken too far?

Oh and is the way the sleeve enters the shoulder acceptable (see the last image it seems to sit quite higher than the shoulder giving a little peak).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Is it within the realms of what is fixable by tailoring\\alterations or should I give up as it'll not look right regardless?

What about the sleeve joining the shoulder, does this look normal?

Shade too big, you need a size down. A tailor can arrest the situation around the chest and sides and sleeves. But shoulders need work (expensive), jacket too long (a tailor cutting it would offshoot symmetry). Also sleeve thickness will mean the suit will look baggy regardless of any other alterations.

However, if you did the bare minimum alterations, you will look like every regular joe out there although it would not be perfect.

i like solid coloured fabrics with texture, its nice in that regard. its a size too big though..

id suggest getting it tailored but i think it would be too costly, return it and get a size down...

Another first time poster seeking advice on RTW goods. Could you not have made this easier by using properly lit photographs and avoid the mail box shape crop? Not good.

From what it is possible to tell it is too big, the trousers also appear way too long - why on earth did you leave the shop wit it and waste time here getting advice that was surely available before you bought?

Fair point - taken, thanks. Oh and no advice is available at the department store (I know, I know but it was a good price). The size is 102 (42L) which is usually quite good for me in HB. I guess I was surprised that the same size in the same maker could be so different. Suit is returnable, which is what I'll likely do.

Perhaps you've not bought RTW suits lately (if ever), so perhaps you've forgotten (or never known/heard) that suit sales men will almost always say a suit looks good on you even if it's not a perfect fit.

I hope your eyes recover from the strain those dim photos put on them, and you return to your (hopefully) normal, affable self leaving this descent into condescension a distant memory...
