I am looking for a light (under 10oz) fabric for a suit. I plan to use the jacket as a sports jacket as well, and would like to go for a solid navy blue fabric that has some texture.

    Any recommendations?

Something with texture or "surface interest." Possibly an unfinshed worsted, but you will not find many good ones under 10 oz. Otherwise a fresco or a hopsack will work.

What is a fresco? Any mill names to look up?

Fresco is a loose weave, with a rough-looking surface. Minnis probably has the best fresco book currently available.

How does a fresco differ from wool crepe?

It's much harder, the yarns are thicker, but the weave is more porous. It's hand is a lot stiffer; not really soft feeling at all.
