Suit Construction and Material?

I just learned about fused, half and full canvas. It seemed to me that canvas construction would be very important.

In your opinion, what's would you rather have (assuming such things existed): full canvas poly mix, or fused 100% wool?

My reason for asking is to get a reference point for how important canvas is, and whether wool fused suits are a waste of money.

Fused suits are definitely a waste of money. The construction is poor and won't hold up for a long time. In addition, the drape on the chest through the stomach won't look as good.

Full canvas is mainly reserved for those who truly care about having that high quality in their jackets. In my opinion, a polyester full canvas suit is kind of like an oxymoron. The fabric would not match the quality of the canvassing.

What's best is half canvas - it's high quality construction, durable, lasts long, and includes the drape you want in your chest. Wool + Half Canvas is what you want in terms of best bang for buck when purchasing a suit.

Do not ever buy a suit that has polyester in it. It might look okay when it’s brand new, but it will age badly and quickly.

Also, yes to half-canvas. The canvassing will be on the chest where the structure-with-flexibility really matters.
