Suit colours to go with mid-grey shirt

Is it a bengal striped shirt? Navy, or a darker gray. Maybe olive.

That is hard color for a shirt. I say donate it and get something more versatile.

I think a dark green, or olive would look good. Or yes, even black with a gray suit, very monochrome, however not wrong.
