I bought a suit from John Varvatos in New Jersey and since i live in nyc wanted to have the suit altered at their NYC location. I just called and the turn around time for alterations is 2 weeks!!! They told me that they use another independent tailor that is familiar with their clothes. His name is Ramon Diaz on Mott street. Should i take their advice and use him or go somewhere else?

I used Ramon several times. He does a A LOT of alteration work for Varvatos (as one can see from the dozens of Varvatos suit bags hanging in the store when walking in). He does a good job but the attention to detail and to the customer's instructions are not perfect (as it's often the case with tailors by the way). After he took the waist in too much on two suits (because I guess he thought he was too good to pin it - he just quickly chalked two lines without even seeing how it will look by pinning it...), I took my business to Wilfred. Never had a problem there (but the price is much higher)
