Looking for a good tailor in central London (not dry cleaners - had bad experience). I'm looking to get a couple of suits altered as they are quite baggy. Any recommendations will be much appreciated.

Great, I've also used Alterations Boutique for my wedding suit alterations. Their tailors are great but not as expensive as Savile Row.

Are there any recommendations for anyone other than Pinnas and Needles?

Preferably further East in the City? Or in North London?

Don't say Alterations Boutique, all the reviews are fake. Made by users with 1 post

Try KS tailoring by Piccadilly. He did a fantastic job with some jackets

I recently used May Tailoring on Essex Road (about 10 minute walk from Angel station) for a repair to the lining of a Hackett tweed jacket, and to have it taken in at the sides.

I was very happy with the work that they did, but please bear in mind that I have only used them once and it was on a jacket I wasn't too fussed about.

(The grammar isn't fantastic, but that doesn't bother me).

Hi,

I use Alterations Boutique. They are based in West London. Have taken a few suits to them and they have altered them really well.

There website is www.alterationsboutique.co.uk. 0207 724 4147.

Take a look

Any updated recommendations for alterations tailors in central London? Both the recs on this thread and the Pinnas and Needles thread are a few years old, so looking for the most current perspective.

In particular, any good alterations tailors in the Chelsea/South Ken area?

I was actually at Pinnas and Needles today and can't recommend them enough. They are proper perfectionists. I'm getting a suit from Luxire, so I went to P&N to get them to turn my best fitting jacket (a SuitSupply MtM) to as close to perfect as possible (basically just sleeve pitch issues) so I could have it replicated.

The thing about Pio & Francesco is that they have a ridiculous eye for detail and they won't be happy if you walk out unless they feel their work is perfect. They're honestly the only alteration tailor I've ever used that I think would be up to absurdly high SF standards.

Also only charged £55 to change sleeve pitch, which I think is pretty reasonable (although never had that alteration done before/anywhere else, so could be wrong).

+1 for pinnas and needles. Took my jacket to them sfter another tailor (recommended here) completely ballsed up shortening sleeves at shoulder. They did a fantastic job of sorting it out. No bullshit, no pretensions, just good work at a reasonable price

When I lived in London, I would go to Chelsea Tailors in the Kings Road Mall on the Kings Road for basic alternations. Unless you need something complicated, this is a good option.

The only thing about Pinnas and Needles is that they are now quite expensive. By their own admission they have more work than they can handle, so they reject smaller jobs and, due to demand, they can charge higher prices.

Anyone else?

I couldn't agree more, I used them a few times in the past but I now feel the service is not as good as it used to be. I have also noticed a few quality issues. My favourite top two are Design & Alter in Battersea (very good tailors but slightly on the expensive side as they charge by hour) and Alterations Boutique in Marylebone (efficient, great quality, never argue if something needs tweaking, prices are ok). Maybe give one of these a try...
