Suggestions on lightweight v-neck sweaters

I've been a big fan of uniqlo extra fine merino for workable value v-neck sweaters to wear casually and over dress shirts at work during the winter.

I'd owned a number for years and the two I bought this year both ran within a month. I'd sort of stuck with uniqlo as a 'good enough' option, but being that they're no longer even good enough, I'm looking for other options.

Light weight, v-neck, merino preferred.

It's been a while since I've bought a sweater from them, and they have a new Creative Director now, so things may be different. But about five or six years ago, I bought some basic knits from Club Monaco and I've been impressed with how they've held up. They're not as nice as John Smedley's, but they're also not as expensive. A step up from Uniqlo, at least. You can usually find them on sale for about $50, sometimes even less.

Otherwise, John Smedley is excellent. I have some basic merinos from them that I've owned since the late 90s and they've held up really well.

At this price range the Bloomingdale's house brand is an option. I have a few and they're pretty good with a nice slim fit. On sale you can get merino for 49 and cashmere for 99.

thanks...will check out CM and Bloomingdales. reminds me, Barney's house brand is also pretty decent

Nordstrom was having a sale on their house brand cashmere sweaters--very lightweight and I think some got into the under $100 category
