Suggestion for a Briefcase convertible to a backpack that can hold up to a 17.3" laptop

The good thing about some of Saddleback’s bags is they are intentionally designed to be rigged up as a backpack. But, given their expense and weight, I understand your reluctance.

I would suggest checking out Redoxx. Many of their bags are designed to be carried as a backpack. Though more luggage than briefcase, most are made where they can be cinched down to be thinner and have hand grips. Their Skytrain would be large enough for a 17” laptop.

17-inch laptops are way too large to be carried around all the time. I think your best bet is the conventional laptop backpacks if style is not much of a concern.
