Suggest a pair of shorts!

I'm traveling to europe and need shorts, something I NEVER wear. I don't remember the last time I wore shorts. Anywways, my wardrobe is typically white, black or gray with a splash of colour here and there. I went to nordstroms but of course they just had trendy bullshit. Are jean shorts in style?

How old are you? Are you in good shape (athletic build)? Overweight? Without knowing more about your body type/age its hard to suggest something for you.

IMO jean shorts have been out of style for quite a while now. I haven't worn any in over 10 years at least. Khaki cargo shorts are stylish and utilitarian and are easy to pair with a collared button down short sleeve, polo or t-shirt as well as with a wide variety of different shoe choices.

Cargo shorts look bad 95% of the time - just because he's 23 and other 23 year olds wear them doesn't mean they'll look good. Get some slim-fitting cutoffs like these instead.

Or if you have a slim-fitting pair of khakis or something, cut them off just below the knee with some scissors. Don't try too hard, shorts are supposed to look fairly casual.

Or if you're cheap go to J. Crew and look for shorts in the Sale section. Otherwise Gap and LEC have chino shorts that I have been happy with and could wear whenever it's the summer.

Levis is a little weirder because I've had a pair of shorts I've been really happy with and another pair that has the weirdest rise ever with shallow pockets.

GAP has chino shorts, maybe the 8'' shorts are too short for you, but they have some 9'' shorts. I wear the 8'' shorts and I'm 5'8.
