^^ thanks, I got them from Pediwear for 149 GBP shipped to India. Really like the shape, looks much better on my 10 Uk feet than the Tetburys which I ordered earlier and ended up returning.

Alfred Sargent Havant in snuff suede

Purchased in September last year, have been used during most days since then. The December-March days were some really ugly winter days.

I believe the AS havants are the same as the Thin Red Line ones that there was a mad dash for last year. I have a pair and they are one of my favorites. Very versatile..I'm wearing them today with jeans, a OCBD, and a corduroy blazer today.

Yes, those suede LW are very nice but I wish they had a double sole. To my eye a LW should always have a double sole. The LW is such an over-built shoe that it needs an over-built sole, if that makes sense. Nice though. Can't say I wasn't tempted.

I sort of agree with you for darker color LWs. For me the flex welt sole works with the lighter colors plus it's so damn comfortable.

Of course having said that I also ordered the whiskey cordovan LWs with the double sole.

This has happened to a AS for Peals suede brogue I have. On the other hand, a Barker Black suede/leather spectator shows no markings at all.

Is this a feature of the particular leather used and hard to predict until they are worn? Is it a result of the fit?

Insights?

Not sure, but I have noticed the same thing with all three pair of Alden suede shoes that I have. Tends to brush out though.

Those are fine shoes. I wanted a pair but the 10 1/2D were the first to sell out apparently..
