    Hi all

Would suede oxfords (something like in this picture) work with shorts (slim/trim khaki or cotton shorts)? With short sleeve slim shirts?

Or is this a big no-no?

Going to Las Vegas in few weeks time with my friends and wanted to do a little casual/formal dressing when out and about in town during the day (heard it's pretty darn hot over there right now).

    Thanks!

Shorts = flip flops or jesus boots (sandals) and never shoes.

Those are derbies, not oxfords. Either way, I wouldn't wear them with shorts. Get some nice sneakers if you want to wear shorts...i.e., Common Projects, Buttero, Superga, Adidas Stan Smith, etc.

Thanks a bunch! I didn't even know of the brands you just listed other than Adidas. Now the search begins (and my wallet doomed '-)).

I would absolutely wear wingtips like those with shorts and a short sleeve dress shirt. Wear them without socks (smelly) or get some truly no show socks (not ankle socks). Make sure your shorts fit well and that your color combo makes sense. A clean fashion sneaker is also a good look though.

When I saw the title, I was prepared to answer, "Good God, no!" However, since these are rubber-soled bucks, an inherently casual shoe, I would emend my reply to, "Why not?" No socks.

Short-sleeved fine, if it has a collar.

Yes. Good choice of shoe and color of leather with pairing with shorts. Fashion sneakers also work well walking the Strip. With shorts, always go without socks (or wear no-shows).

Those r way too formal for shorts IMO. Sandals or flipflops best, clean runners maybe.

Show toes only if they're looking good [shudder]

the older I get the less need I have for shorts unless engaging in exercise or at the beach. Since discovering light seersucker trousers and linens there is no reason not to be well dressed at all times. I would never wear those shoes with shorts.

While I lean more towards wearing linen pants or light cotton chinos, if you wear classically styled shorts, (preferably either a linen with pleats, cuffs and a perfect drape or a simple flat front chino style) with a nice white long sleeved button up shirt, with the sleeves rolled up and a button or two popped open, I think you could do it. Perhaps loafers or driving Mocs would fit better with the look your gong for, but I still think you could do it.

Just be sure you go sockless or with no show socks. My two cents anyways.

I think you will find most SF members regard shorts as worn by boys, or men on the badminton pitch, but never "in town." I realize Las Vegas is stretching the definition of town if not civilization, and I have no doubt the masses patrolling Elvis Presley Boulevard in cargo shorts will consider your pressed Bermudas the height of formality. Ditch the wing tips. Buy some espadrilles.

I would not wear that with shorts, I would prefer sneakers.
