Suede loafers...to wear or not to wear.

Just got a beautiful pair of suede med brown Ferragamo 'Nebaldo' loafers. My question is: can I wear them with a suit? Slacks and an oxford shirt? Don't want to commit any fashion faux pa's with such a nice pair of shoes.

Personally I don't like loafers with a suit, but plenty of people wear them that way.

I'm not familiar with those particular loafers, but I wouln't wear suede loafers with a suit. I don't like loafers in general with a suit and suede takes it down another notch in formality. I do like loafers a lot and suede is nice. I'd have no problem wearing them with slacks, jeans, sweaters, and even an occasional sportcoat.

I think they'd probably look appropriate with a linen suit, but not a worsted one. I think it would be entirely appropriate to wear them with trousers and an odd jacket, for a smart, casual look. Try a few things on and see what you think for yourself...
