After reading this article in the NYT, I had to go check it out during an extended lunch break from my craigslist job search. Beautiful stuff, and with 40% off might go back on Friday with my unemployment check.

I didn't much like the place when I went there at the beginning of December. The decor wasn't very interesting IMO and they weren't having a sale.

We went right?

I just thought it was a wierd matrix and didn't see what niche it was trying to fill right there. I'm sure the customer service is very personalized.

Yep. I didn't see it as that interesting, although I would have liked to have seen the bar and other things mentioned in the article.

OTOH I want to check out Lost Boys in DC (hopefully Monday as any later will risk scores of tourists for the inauguration) as the blurb on them made it sound neat.

I have been curious about Lost Boys as well, and it might be my new "local" as it looks like I will be moving to Baltimore. Yelp's reviews however almost seem too glowing. Or is this really heaven incarnate?

The brands and concepts mentioned in the reviews for Lost Boys would only be mind blowing (Band of Outsiders, whoah, hold them presses) to socialites and young professionals who have a passing interest in fashion. I expect that, in the Georgetown location, really directional fashion would not do that well anyway. Instead, what is going to sell is good customer service, since that customer is not really a sport shopper, and if they find "their spot", will probably keep relying on it for both goods and information.

Kesner's sounds a little more interesting, but let's look at the brands (from their website): ADAM, Filippa K, Gilded Age, KVA, Neil Barrett, Nice Collective, Ervell, Geller, Spurr, Tim Hamilton, etc..., and accessories by Want les Essentials, shoes by Barker Black, jewelry by Black Sheep&Prodigal sons. It looks lke they bought the "paint-by-numbers" hip store starter kit (courtesy of half a dozen influential showrooms), and then added Rykiel Homme (which is dead now anyway) to say "Hah, gotcha!" And it is in one of the most gentrified neighbourhoods in lower Manhattan.
