And thus ends the rally-inspired Impreza in 2012.

the front = accord; back = nissan-esque?

the old imprezzas didn't look sporty in the conventional sense, but you knew that it had unbridled power in the hood.

the '12s look like slow, comfortable luxury clunkers.

probably wouldn't buy.

I don't like it, and they went with a smaller engine? WTF?

If they can guarentee a drab interior then the current customers will not leave.

the gen 5 legacy/liberty looked awesome, i hate the new one, looks like the impreza has gone the same way style wise.

hints of nissan's design there, but I kinda like it, and I'm sure a lot of rice racers will also.

It certainly looks more respectable than the old versions. Its the first that I would actually drive, which may be why traditional customers wont buy it.

Isn' this always the reaction? then they just renew the brand with a Wrx and Sti model after a few years into the production line, with the post-hawk eye models.

Subaru are always up and down with their styling - I actually think this is one of their better cracks at it. I agree the hatch is a definite improvement.

In that third pic with the hatchback, the sedan looks like a Ford Focus
