I like the way Chris Walken wears his regular ass coat in Dead Zone (best King adaptation btw) and makes it other.

Anybody seen Big Man Japan (Dai Nipponjin)? Working on getting some screen grabs later on today. Some excellent outfits in there.

Dai-Nipponjin looks hysterical, I don't know why I haven't seen it yet. I probably have it somewhere actually.

I was watching Bright Future recently

any good? I like Asano and also Odagiri Jo from time to time

Well... it's interesting. Odd pacing, visually beautiful, pregnant and dreamlike atmosphere, disconcerting but a bit uneven, probably not the best Kiyoshi Kurosawa.

Wings of Desire, repost ? (edit: yes)

Sounds pretty good to me. Will check it out, thanks. I think Tokyo Sonata is the only Kiyoshi Kurosawa I've seen so far. Except for Beat Takeshi and a few select titles, I'm hopelessly lost when it comes to modern/recent japanese cinema. Love the older stuff though, Ozu is a big big favorite of mine and I enjoy a lot of the new wave movement (in particular Yoshida, but also Oshima, Suzuki, Shinoda, Tegishahara) and the hard boiled noir stuff with chipmunk Joe...

Still haven't seen Tokyo Sonata :hide:

And I need to rewatch Ozu (btw, I quite liked that Hou Hsiao-Hsien's homage to Ozu, Café Lumière).
