The following are the glasses I most recently purchased from Glitter Optics in San Francisco (near Union Square). I got them in copper and like them a lot. Unfortunately the picture on the link is not very good. The glasses are a relatively new British brand called Booth & Bruce. In my day, people might refer to them as "hip". If you happen to be at an optical store, check them out. (I actually paid $100.00 less than on the RetroSpecs website)

I just got a pair myself, also have and oversized pair of Paul Smith frames. Maybe a guilty pleasure but I'm fortunate to have to good friends who work in the industry catering to high end clientèle. I have an on going love with Theo, ProDesign and LA Eyeworks
I have a pair of decidely oversized Cutler & Gross frames in black; very '60s.

I noticed Men's Vogue had a recent blog about eyeframes; mine are somewhat similar to these worn by Caine:

That, and a pair of '60s French tortoiseshells are my regular frames.

Those frames look good on the black dude, Labelking, but are too large on Mike's face.

I've had two pair of rimless and have not had any problems at all. By far my favorite pair is by Wolfgang Katzer--titanium frames that are so light you forget you're wearing them. I couldn't find an image of the ones I have--couldn't find much at all online for that mater--but here's a link to some of his stuff. http://googooeyes.com/images/newslet...rge_katzer.jpg I can't help you with New York but this is one of those rare occasions when I can highly recommend a store in my hometown--Columbus Ohio. Should you ever find yourself here for whatever reason and are in the market for glasses you owe it to yourself to go see Barbi Tuckerman at Eye One Unique Eye Wear. She is an absolute master at fitting: not just the right frame for your facial characteristics but for your personality and style as well. http://www.eyeoneeyewear.com/

I like to think that's part of the charm of these types of frames. They're so large and outdated these days, they become stylish, if that makes any sense; and somehow, I don't see a resurgence of oversized nerdy frames for men.

I have a pair of Mykitas (Hans, retro style) and absolutely love them. No one else in Philly has a pair quite like these.

If your ever in the area i suggest a store called Eye Site on 19th Street for frames that are practically works of fine art.
