can anyone comment on sizing on the 2030 vs the 110 ?
I understand that the service boots are going to will be 7 holes going forward as previously discussed. Is the 7 hole boot taller than the 6 hole boot? If so can find out how much taller?
I wish I could buy in.......I'd need at least the 2040 last if not the 110. Damn you freakishly wide feet...............
Thanks Fok. If it's of any use Ryan from 4Horsemen confirmed he can do it when ordering me a pair of the 4HM collab, so hopefully it's possible.
As soon as you can confirm I'll order, but I might switch to the icy cxl as my black boots need could be filled by 4HM.
There would be a small additional discount. If you are unsure about sizing, though, I would absolutely advise that you send in a tracing. I want you to be happy with the boots. fwiw, cxl is softer than say, the Nubuck boots, and will be more accomodating and pliable. People rarely take this into consideration in discussions of sizing, comfort, etc..., but it's clearly a consideration. To take an example from something else with which I am familiar, a lightweight, 10 oz pair of jeans is going to be more comfortable, off the bat, than the 24 oz multiforum collaborations jeans that I have (which are a beast I still have not bested).
I'm pretty good at Brontosaurus and also skegosaurus - so, you have a choice.
They are all in the E width, as remarked. The CXL will be forgiving. The french calf will be very forgiving (beautiful leather).
The 110 is stubbier and rounder/fuller at the toe.
the boots are exactly the same height. The only difference is the spacing between the lace holes. Viberg found that with 6 eyelets, after some where, boots would develop some "gaping" between the eyelets, so they tightened this up by adding an additional pair of eyelets. The height of the boots was not altered. For the excavated boots, we will actually use 8 eyelets.
We will play with some other lasts in the next order. I was asked specifically to do the more streamlined 2030 by the overwhelming majority of people, but I like the idea of a chukka on the 110 last, for example, like Brett Viberg made for Nigel Cabourn.
Just sent a message to Morgan, who is the guy who actually oversees this on the factory floor. If it can be done, it will be done.
Awesome thanks again Fok. I'm just waiting to pull the trigger now! Also Morgan received my tracing yesterday and let me know he'd be in touch asap with sizing recommendations, so hopefully it all comes together today or tomorrow and I can get in on the first 4!
For C, the excavated boots, will the sole edges be uniformly black (like these for instance)? Also, can we get them non-distressed?
Yes, and I don't see why not.
Would it cost less?
Reminds me of a really old Friend's episode.
Anyway, probably, but the real cost upcharge for this boot is in the leather. It's really good leather - the same leather used for Hermes bags, apparently, which is one of the reasons that it can undergo the treatment. It will wear in differently than say, the stiffer, heavier, black oil tan used for A, the "Standard" black Service boot.
Iced Mocha service boots ordered!!
How will we know if we are one of the early adopters?
I'll tell you!
Two things I'm wondering about:
1) Just to verify - we're going with Dainite on Option B. Is that correct?
2) I'm concerned about the 2030 last and would love to take up on the offer of sending a tracing of my feet to Viberg to verify sizing. Will this sale be closed out by the time I complete that process? If I make a guess on sizing for now and change later, how much would the fee to do so be?
Separate names with a comma.
