This was announced by j a few hours ago, but I thought that I should post here just in case people don't bother reading the announcements - which you should be doing anyway. ...you should click through our affiliate banners (at top and bottom of the page) so we can track your order and enter you for a $200 gift certificate giveaway. So, here's how it works. For the next month (purchases from 9/23/08 to 10/23/08):
  • click through any affiliate banner (not a text link in a vendor's signature) on the site (streetwear, men's clothing, body, buying/selling, anywhere)
  • make a purchase of $50 or more* (from 9/23/08 to 10/23/08 are eligible)
  • email the purchase receipt to us at [email protected] and include your SF username
  • be entered to win $200 in credit toward a purchase at any affiliate site***
  • at the end of the period, a receipt will be picked at random as the winner
  • we will check that the winner's purchase went through the affiliate links**
  • a $200 credit will be issued in your name at the affiliate site of your choice, or a gift card bought for you, or something to that effect, depending on the site***
  • ???
  • profit!
* one entry per member per affiliate per contest period. In other words, don't make 10 $50 purchases at one affiliate to get 10 entries - they will be counted as one; BUT, make 10 $50 purchases at 10 different affiliates and be entered 10 times! ** purchases made at trackable affiliates that are found not to have come through the site links will not be considered eligible for the contest. We will check, so be sure to go through the site banners! *** The prize is for promotional purposes only, has no cash value, and cannot be transfered or refunded. If this goes well we will be doing it, or something similar, every month from now on. Doing our part to stimulate the economy!

Hope you guys enjoy the contest...

+1 on the no purchase plan

However, thanks to the no purchase plan, I've saved enough to enter through a few affiliates. =)

This is cool, and I'm glad you guys are doing it...
However, I had to choose the cashback option with the linkage over the SF banners. Too bad there's no technical way to have combined the two.

What if we have a credit with the affiliate and we purchase within the time frame, does it apply?

So, instead of choosing to gamble for the giveaway, I took the garanteed money back. I was simply stating I wish there was someway to combine both and enter my purchase in the giveaway.

Websites generate revenue through clickthrough sales. There are different incentives on different sites. You decided on the incentives from another site. Obviously, there is no way to get the incentives from one website from a sale through another website. I suppose that the only way to get the benefits of both is to diversify.

I understand, I'll maybe have to use it as an excuse to buy more from other affiliates then.

I hate to point out the obvious, but the "purchase necessary" provision makes this a lottery and subject to all sorts of laws you might not want to have to deal with. I think you can get around that by adding an alternative means of entry. (And then, ah.......... "you" could do "something" to ensure only a purchaser won.)
