  • Epaulet x Styleforum Alpine Loden Collection

Loden wool, woven in Tirol for centuries, is known for its resistance to cold and wetness. Our project in collaboration with Epaulet introduces Alpine Loden, a modern 18oz fabric blend of 75% merino wool and 25% nylon, woven in Italy. It's lighter, more durable, wind-resistant, and more comfortable than traditional Loden fabric. Partnering with Rochester Tailored Clothing, we offer custom garments like sportcoats, suits, and overcoats, made to your specifications. Learn more about the Loden collection here.

StyleForum's eBay Round Up
Week of August 3

700

700

700

After a careful round of reprogramming, the StyleForum Robot is new equipped to run sophisticated searches to plum eBay for the best items and the most amazing deals. Check early, bookmark often, and snag something killer at an unbelievable price.

Of special interest is the Vass Budapester sample shoes – your only chance to own a pair of Vass for $75, but for that price you only get half a shoe. If I had to bet, I think there’s two possible origins of this bizarre listing: either a production sample sliced in half to showcase Vass’ production methods and brought to tradeshows, or a bespoke sample used to dial in fit before producing a final product. Both are pretty cool.

That's a display sample they sent us way back in 2002. I dragged it around to a whole bunch of famous stores and to the Artisan's Collective at Louis Boston. It's been kicking around here for too long, someone else needs to enjoy it!

Is Gabor still around, Andrew? I feel like that needs to go into the Styleforum "museum." Remember back in those days, man? I just wrote on the tumblr about the first days of Vass in the USA. It was really cool that Styleforum got to be a part of that.

I'm not sure where he is at the moment, I talk to him every once in a while and sometimes he is in Greece, sometimes in Budapest, and sometimes in New York. He's got great taste, and that includes the places he lives!!

I sure do remember, it was such a great crew back then. All the questions were new questions, and you were like the only guy who could pull off a look that didn't involve a suit! It was both fun and frustrating to rep Vass back in the day, they were a hard sell. We were targeting a retail price of about $750 for calfskin in major stores, and after several years invested only Louis and Bergdorf were willing to give them a (limited) run. It was a giant flop for me personally, but I do think it is cool how popular they became in later years!
