lol I have a friend who actually owns a pair of those black dragon shoes with screwed on metal... He loves them.

Unless the metal part is some kind of blade for use in a deadly yet gimmicky martial arts move owning those shoes is entirely unforgivable.

I don't doubt it. And don't get me wrong, in the right (wrong?[IMG] ) setting I can't imagine anything would beat them. Acqua alta in Venice? Go for it. Mucking out the stalls in Millbrook? You bet. Heck, spending a drizzly afternoon in the garden would be good enough. But taking the subway to Whole Foods and then maybe strolling through the Farmers' Mkt? You look like a tool.....

    Maybe they were Welshmen?

Surprisingly, there is a demand for clothing like this. I couldn't believe my eyes:

[IMG] what did you ask them? "Can I take pics of your horrible shoes? I want to laugh about them with my friends on the internetz."?

I was wearing my suede wingtips and he said "Don't old men wear those?" I just smiled [IMG] and asked where he got his shoes. His response with a thick accent:
"This is the best you can get. Made in Italy. Brighton Beach [Brooklyn,NY] has many stores"

    So I took pictures.

The one on the right from the barber shop, who's friends with one of workers came in to show off his new Mercedes and his new shoes.

That's strange - I hear of experiences like that a lot here; yet when I wear 'nice shoes' (and that's by no means common in my surroundings, believe me) very unstylish people often comment positively on them.

Oh. my. god. My brains explode as I try to understand how people actually can think this looks good.

You could have said "Yes, that's what men wear when they grow out of fashion..."

Forty-year-old men trying (very hard) to dress like D-bags - and thinking they are so cool...
