Stupid Vent Question

So i was hoping to turn a ventless jacket into a single vent. From perusing the posts on this subject, I gather that it this is impossible. However, after examining the jacket in question, I discovered that there was some fabric tucked under the center vent. Is hope still lost? How much fabric would I need to pull off this miracle. I'd say I have about a half inch on either side of the seam. Any help from tailoring experts would be great appreciated.

A half inch is not nearly enough. Sorry.

Without seeing it I would venture to say you will need 2 inches minimum. A half inch will not cut it for sure.
