Half hour ago I've received my new pair JL William in black.
What a nice shoe.... and it fits like a glove

Unfortunately the straps open rather unwillingly.... I have to use some pressure and I''m afraid that this is an unhealthy procedure for the shoe.

There goes my stupid question:
Do you think that this is usual for a fresh shoe and it improves the next weeks or can I do something about it?
I even thought of opening just the first strap to slip in but this can't be good either.....

For what it's worth, I only open the first strap on double monks.

that is right, usually the first strap closer to your shin will be the one you will be unbuckling/buckling.

i have a gucci double monk that i never touch the strap near toe. only unbuckle the nearer one to me.

also , for one being new to monkstraps, i had a psychological issue with pulling on the straps too hard.
but after wearing them for awhile, they loosened up a bit, not only that my hands have experience pulling on a monkstrap,
usually a top name like JL can and will take a large abuse, let alone your extra tug to buckle them.
