Studying French in Paris?

I'm thinking about spending a month studying French in Paris next year.

I'm in the process of narrowing down the options.

A couple of places catching my eye are the Alliance Francaise and Institut Francais. Both of these offer various packages depending on the intensity of study needed. Also, accommodation is offered from 2 and 3 star hotel arrangements to live in family and hostel/B&B deals.

So, the question is: has anyone done something like this, even attended one of these places?
What did you think? A valuable experience to improving language skills? If you have experince of another institution, which one and what was it like?

cheers for any input.

Thanks for the feedback but staying in Paris for an extended period is part of my motivation.
I appreciate that the temptation to revert to mother tongue might be great, and that 1 month isn't so long.

I spent a month studying in Grenoble. It was pretty helpful, I was finally getting comfortable holding light conversations and watching the news when I had to leave. No matter how long you stay you need to continue to practice regularly after you leave.

I know this is a little of topic but why did you choose to learn French? I am debating on whether I should learn French, Spanish or Italian.

Don't regret learning French at all. Being in North America, Spanish would be a ton more useful but *******. Italian is pretty but quite worthless. Spanish and French are the most useful of European languages as they are used quite extensively world wide. Mandarin and Portuguese (Brazil) seem to be the next most useful. Arabic is okay but probably if you want to pursue a career in security/arab issues. Don't know about Russian... booming economy but still a one trick pony (energy) for now. Anyway, if you go with what genuinely intrigues you, you will make it work out.
