It's the black stripes on the tie. Or too many colors on the tie. Either one. Burn the tie immediately and all will be well.

I'd say they smelled your insecurity. Also, the specific hues and textures may have been off, and the tie may have been ugly. According to Dress for Success, even ghetto girls know what looks proper and upper middle-class.

    2 possibilities:

    1) The girls thought grey pants and navy blazer inherently don't match. I had an ex-gf tell me that once. (Emphasis on the ex.) A lot of people think this, but it's wrong.
    2) They thought the tie didn't match. This is possible if the blue in the tie didn't go with the blue in the shirt or if the black in the tie didn't go. Not sure if this is likely, but it's possible.

I could never, ever, ever teach 15-16 year old girls. Within 2 years I would certainly either:

    a) Be arrested.
    b) Blow my own sobbing brains out after an epic masturbation binge.

Today I wore black pants, a pink shirt, purple tie and tank cordoroy jacket. Again I was blasted for not "matching." As yesterday, they blamed the jacket. "Your jackets are killing me, Mister," said one. They insisited a black jacket, even one not of the same material as the pants, would be better.

The thing is, I was totally confident I matched.

    I love Dress for Success!

When I taught, I very quickly realized the students knew nothing about style, and little about fashion other than what was immediately trendy-- and who can blame them?

Dont sweat it getting called out -- happened to me many times, and still does by my wife, who was also a student of mine at one time!

The only way their opinion would matter would be if you wanted to bang them out. So I suggest you change your attire.

Unless you are jinda, what the hell do you care what a group of 15-year-old girls thinks?
