I have been wearing this damn APC's for 4 months about 4-5 days a week.
They have gone through what ever new york city wanted them to go through and still no real fade. Honeycombs are creased, thighs are somewhat creased, ass is shiny but no obvious fade. WTF?!

I though APCs were easy to fade.

the whole notion of raw, dry denim is that it'll reflect your lifestyle in a few months time. meaning, you're not living in it hard enough. go get drunk, get chased, do the chasing, eat, spill, roll in mud

have an ass race with a friend on the sidewalk: both of you on your asses pulling yourself with your hands. first to the finish line wins lots of indigo loss.

also, don't worry about it too much. and don't convince yourself to wash early. it's frustrating now i'm sure you'll appreciate the fact that they're pretty tough if you keep wearing them in the future.

people tend to forget that you actually need to wear the jeans in. They wont just one day six months later have an amazing high contrast fade. If you arent hard on the jeans, they will reflect that. If you want them to fade within the next two months, wear them everyday and actually do stuff in them. A quick and east thing is go hike or go on a bike ride. You are in new york so biking is prolly a little bit more reasonable, plus you'll get some excercise.

Indeed. Blue fibers fall off and create fades where cloth is rubbed repeatedly, so go for a bike ride or something.

i didn't notice any fading until the 3-4th month, then the fading was exponential

If it's any consolation, I've had my Okinawas for nearly 5 months now with very minimal fading.

The sooner they fade the sooner you end up buying a new pair. Enjoy the process, hehe. I actually think I'm kinda partial to the heavily creased and dark, at least recently.

the fading accelerates at the end. Mine did almost nothing for 8-10 months. then 11-15 months they are suddenly looking worn out. Somehow I went from wishing they looked more worn, directly to wishing they looked more new. haha

The exponential in wear definitely seems to be true... I've had more visible indigo loss in this last 2 weeks than in the previous 4 months.

If youre so worried about getting creases and fading why not just buy a pair of predistressed jeans? Purposely "living it hard" so your jeans get "personalized" faster so you can go not wear them and buy a new pair to obsess about seems cyclical and... forget it.

Ahh, the "special" APCs. I had a pair from that run (I imagined it was some special set of circumstances that caused my Rescues to be bullet-proof, and this property affected other jeans in the same run).

I wore them all the time for six months, and they just seemed to get *less* faded: the surface of the jean compressed to this ultra-hard denim, and they got a touch more "silvery". I loved them in that condition. Then I foolishly exposed them to the equivalent of kryptonite: I washed them. Yes, it was only for a short time in very cold water, but it was enough to break the magic spell that has previously made them immune to to earthly wear. Immediately after that, they started to wear like ordinary jeans, and I've regretted that wash ever since.

So I just bought another pair, which are not allowed near the water...
