Striped shirts with charcoal gray suit?

Yes, I've made a decision: charcoal gray. Not navy blue. Because navy blue can look like black in certain lighting, or actually in most lightings unless it's a natural-lighting bright location and a sunny day, which doesn't happen very often here.

Now I want to choose some shirts within a day or so, tired of waiting.

So I like striped shirts. I like them more than solid-color shirts, purely because they look more interesting. And I know that checks don't go with a suit.

Do striped shirts go with a charcoal gray suit? If so, which? What if you are/aren't gonna wear a tie?

Here's a Modern Tailor link to affordable shirts (for my pocket anyway), please update the choice menus at the top if you feel like I've missed something, or something should be included: http://www.moderntailor.com/pub/des...&multiselect_other=two+ply&fabricno=&orderby=

You can also take a look here, up to 60eu/ by the way: http://eu.suitsupply.com/mens-shirt...n1=size&prefv1=37&prefn2=design&prefv2=Stripe

Which ones would you recommend with a tie and without a tie? I'm not sure if I will want to wear a tie, as a no-tie is between the formal/informal, it's the middle. If the environment is very formal, it'd be okay as I'd still look decent and quite formal, if it's more informal, I wouldn't look THAT formal and fit in as well. Just some thoughts.

EDIT: I'm looking at this suit: http://demandware.edgesuite.net/aai...ni_Napoli_P2505_Suitsupply_Online_Store_1.jpg

List of ties if I buy 2 shirts at ModernTailor (online) and skip on Suit Supply: http://www.moderntailor.com/pub/pd.do?type=4&popup=&all=

Thanks!

Since you have no other color other than charcoal to start with, you can pretty much pick any color shirt you want and then choose the tie accordingly. My personal choice would be a lavender or purple striped shirt, with or without a tie.

Also, checks can go with a suit. :teach:

Currently I like these:

No.: R43701-04: http://www.moderntailor.com/showcase/images/300711/b-1.jpg
No.: o840: http://www.moderntailor.com/items/common/fabric/201209/o840.jpg
No.: T423: http://www.moderntailor.com/items/common/fabric/201301/T423.jpg

That's on Moderntailor. It'd provide me with a free tie as well (which is $30) if I'd order two shirts, so I'm probably gonna skip on SuitSupply altogether, only buy the suit there.

What do you think? Only gonna buy 2 shirts for now, by the way.

P.S. I was measured as a "37" in Suit Supply, the sleeves were a little bit too long and the shirt hanged free on my body. So I'm gonna choose XS Slim Fit on Moderntailor, by the way.

P.P.S. List of ties: http://www.moderntailor.com/pub/pd.do?type=4&popup=&all=

Collar looks very dated. For more stylish collars see these RTW examples:

What is considered a decent collar for a 'dress' like that?

Anyway, I'd appreciate some input about the materials I've linked to and the ties, as I'd like to order by the end of the day, which is around 12h. Just asking for info before I do, so I won't make a mistake, that's all - I'll order by the end of the day either way.

You could go with any 2 of the three. I personally like No.: T423 the best. Whatever collar you like best is fine. Standard is probably spread or point.

Some prefer to choose the best collar for their face shape. See for example: http://www.office-dress-shirts.com/face_shapes.html

Going with cutaway according to the article, as spread looks... Too spread.

Why do you like Lavender the best? I've noticed that a lot of people are of the same opinion, I wonder why exactly, what's about it so attractive. Not saying that I don't like it - in that case I wouldn't consider buying it, but just wondering.

Also, any ideas on which tie would it with the charcoal gray suit and these shirts? About ties - I honestly have no idea. Wondering if anything at all will fit from the site I linked, as those are the ones I can get for free when ordering 2 shirts.

Thanks. Actually you can choose any collar. So your recommendation would be a cutaway collar then - appreciate the input.

Not necessarily. I like cutaway collars but I have regular spreads too. It's up to you. It's just that the example you showed seemed
a bit generic. Personally, I own no button downs, nor have I for decades. That doesn't mean that button downs with proper roll
don't look fine.
