I mean, i don't have cash to drop on nice clothes at retail or even 20% off. I have to be somewhat shrewd about ebay, buy&sell, supermarket, sample sales, deep online retailer sales (50-70%), etc... However, i don't understand people that are dicks and who demand high priced clothing items for basically cost. The designers, their employees that sell ****, the brands, the retailers, all their employees, middle men, textile mills, etc... all need to make a living. Of course i'd love clothing (and food, nice wine/beer, electronics) to just be cheaper so i could afford all of them but that doesn't make sense. The higher end goods are for people who make a healthy chunk of change. Until then, i just have to roll with the punches and make the most out of what i have.
People are way too accustomed to 70% discounts now. Just wait till this time in 2010. There will be much less things reaching super deep sales. Distributors and retailers won't be almost paying you to take their merchandise this time next year. I think a lot of people will be disappointed to see less available at sales time and all the good stuff in normal sizes getting snatched up at retail early in the season. People better load up in 2009 while they can. I'm lucky to be able to nab brand new stuff at a 50-70% discount but know in the future i may have to just wait around for 2nd hand (which will also be higher priced than this year) or just stick with h&m, uniqlo, urban outfitters, thrift, and other cheap options.
