Stretching Shoe Length

Didn't find much info on a quick search (other topics dealth with width).

I just got a pair of AE Mora shoes from the NR sale for $79 but they are probably a half size too small. The left foot fits well but the right one is a little tight. These are 10Es and after buying them, was measured at an AE store for some park avenues and the best fit was a 10.5E.

How well can a cobler stretch the length of my shoe? Will it damage the shoe/make it look funny/stretch the width at the same time? Ideally I just want it longer in the right and the same width on both sides so that it fits me perfectly.

SOmebody who knows more will chime in but I have only heard of stretching successfully adjusting the width by one grade, like D to E, never the length.

I seriously doubt that the sole would stretch. Stretching width is totally different from stretching length - I'm pretty sure the only thing that would happen is that you would make the upper look deformed.

Excellent, I hope it works out (the fact that a cobbler was willing to do it is a good sign too)

You can't have a welted shoe stretched in length. Maybe a moccasin someone can bust out the toe seam a little, but you can't make shoes grow.

+1. No possible stretching in Length, only in width.

FWIW, my feet went from 10 D to 10.5 E over the past couple of years. I was able to stretch some boots by (horrors!) soaking them in warm water for about 15 minutes, then wearing them all day with a thick pair of socks. They were fairly pointy-toed Western boots, so it's possible that by making the toe area wider I did manage to make them fit a longer foot without making the sole significantly longer.

It doesnt sound like it is too doable.

I would try if I was in dsmolken's situation but since these are new shoes that are just a little too small, I will probably just go and return them (shame though...I like them and it was a great price).

Got my shoes last week. Forgot about replying to this thread.

Shoes did stretch a bit in length. I can walk normally without worrying about my old blisters the shoe gave me the first time I wore it.

I have to add that the shoes I stretched were bata. Not exactly high-end, premium quality shoes.

The shoes were stretched by a shoe shop not a cobbler. I'm friendly with the owner, did it for free.

possible to stretch a chisel toe cap in the length? like only a couple of mm
