Stretching inseams

So I picked up a pair of RB6s on the cheap, but the inseam is too short! I wear a 34 and these are a 32. I think they would be fine if I had another inch, but I'm not sure how to proceed. I've heard of two methods:

1. Hang them up and attach weights to the bottom.

2. Stretch when wet.

Are there other options? Would just misting over the jeans be enough, or do I need to saturate them with water? I would especially like to hear from anyone who has actually done some inseam stretching.

I was stretching the **** out of my Sugarcanes all last night. My knuckles are actually raw today from the effort (not to mention blue). In any case, here is my experience.

It is possible to dry stretch and wet stretch. Wet stretching is better.

My preferred method (used on my APCs, PDCs, and now Canes) is this:

- Wash or soak jeans.
- Grab jeans by a leg.
- Place foot on waist band near top of outside seam. Pull with all your might to stretch outside seam /selvage line.
- Keep foot where it is and stretch front and back.
- Move foot to stand on the crotch. Move hands to inseam and stretch.
- Repeat for the other leg.

Do this two to four times at various stages of wetness as the jeans hang dry.

You will need to do this every thime you wash the jeans.

This is good for at least 2-3 inches versus an unstretched hang dry.

One warning -- be careful where you place your foot if the jeans are of the more delicate variety in terms of fabric or dye. You don't want to accidentally abrade the fibers. The bottom of the crotch and the top of the outside seam are the best places, I've determined).

I use the "chest expander" method when I wash jeans - just grab each end and yank as hard as you can on the outseam and inseam. Try it behind your head too. They really stretch a lot when they're wet. Just don't throw them in the dryer afterwards.

How much denim is there folded in the hem of Rag & Bone jeans? If stretching doesnt work out, you might want to see a tailor, they might be able to get another half inch out of the bottom.

Awesome guys. It sounds like I'll easily get enough length. I'll keep you posted about how successful it is.

As for tailoring, less than 1/2 inch. Denim's a ***** that way.

I do a combination of this (safer) and Montecristo's methods (much more dangerous). Good workout.

Yeah, one comment here -- if you are stretching prewashed jeans, be careful with my method. The whiskers are natural weak points in the fabric because they've had chemicals applied to them (bleach, whatever) or they've been sanded. I put a small tear behind the knee along the lines of a honeycomb once when stretching a pair of prewashed PDCs in a lighter denim. No big deal though because it's just an interesting blemish after I sewed it up.
