We talk about Classic Menswear footwear - brands like Vass, Crockett & Jones, but where's the other side of the coin?
White's Boots
Buying a pair of White's is probably a stepping stone in a person's life, splitting their existence into two neat category: before White's and after White's. White's allows you to design and order a custom-fitted boot - with a willingness to split sizes, adjust lasts, do strange widths - at an unbelievable price with amazing quality and a comfortable fit that's second to none. The boots will last forever and while they might weigh six pounds each, they're unbreakable.
Rancourt
Rancourt is a Maine company that simply makes the best moccasins in the world. They're still unknown enough that the price hasn't risen out of the stratosphere (hi Quoddy, let's talk), and they are very upfront about their construction techniques and their choices. The leather is topnotch, the fit is great and they have havea soles - perhaps the most comfortable sole ever made.
MOTO
MOTO makes me wish I (or a physical representation of my corporeal internet presence) lived in Japan - they make workwear shoes and boots in a natural, undyed chromexcel that looks unbelievable when it ages. The fit is great, the boots are bulletproof (just like White's!), and while the styling might be a little generic, after six months you'll have random people stopping on the street asking what the hell are those awesome beasts?
